You’ll Never Leave Them Behind…

I see you sitting there all alone with chin cupped in your hand
The mountains of love and care in your soul making rivers from eyes to sand

Words and actions, some kind some cruel, combine as each chases the last
Down to the shore where waves of emotion reach out to catch the tears or your past

They’re all swept away for a moment of peace then revisit the shore to remind
Though you cried them all out, bid them farewell, you’ll never leave them behind

Forever the waves of passion and time driven by madness beneath
Will crash on the shore of your dreams yet to come, washing away all but your grief

Yesterday joins in just in time to steal the view of tomorrow
A Tsunami wall of memories drown out reality showing only the sorrow

That forever will hold if your life history repeats so why even give it a chance
Love only hurts, trust only betrays and hearts are destroyed with the lance

Of disregard given as payment for care and love never repaid at all
And others wonder why we’re so cold and we’ve built such terrible walls

Because maybe it’s that we’ve given so much and always repaid everything with good
Maybe because we understand everyone yet we are never understood.

So please leave her be, don’t play with her heart don’t convince her you’re better than the rest

Unless you truly are and you’ll take her in your arms and heal what others left.
